Extra information from the Guide book:
If you can get to the increasingly popular city of Lijiang, Yunnan (can’t missed the 18,306 foot Jade Dragon Snow Mountain to the north) you are very close. There are number ways to get there which I have outlined below. The cheapest and easiest option is a bus station near the Lijiang old town. There are buses leaving daily from this station. It is a little hard to find, I have provided the best possible directions to get you there.
Directions to the Liming Bus station from the Lijiang Old Town:
From the main courtyard of the Lijiang Old Town (the one with waterwheels and KFC), head north west to Minzhu street (the main road next to the courtyard) and turn left and head south down the road. The road will go up a small hill, veers to the left , straightens, then continues down the small hill. Before you get to the next intersection, the bus station will be on your left (the old town or eastern side of the road). It is across the street from Chang Chun hotel (see pictures of the entrance on page 6). You have to pass through a short alley to get to the buses. The buses leave between 12:00 and 14:00. This is a bus that is normally only used by the local Lisu people and do not expect to be many English speakers. The price for the bus is about 30 rmb per seat and takes about 4 hours to get there (depending on the driver). Once you arrive you are required to buy a ticket (80 rmb, 40 rmb if you have a student card) to enter the national park. At that point you will be in Liming, all the hotels and Guesthouses are within walking distance from the bus drop off. Take a look in the visitor center to get educated on the local people and geology.

Other Methods of Travel
Mini Bus to Zhongxin Village:
Another option is to take a minibus from the area located on the map to Zhongxin village. Just a little walk from the bus station fur- ther down the road and to the right (see map). This bus will not take you directly to Liming. From Zhongxin village you are about 24 KM from liming and there are 7 rmb buses that leave regularly.
Hire a personal minibus: The other option is to hire a car to Liming. This price is negotiable depending on the driver. I wouldn’t expect it to be cheaper than 300 rmb. Most private minibuses can transport 4 to 5 people (gotta think about the amount of luggage you have as well, might take the space of one or two people on some buses). Minibuses can be found in most busy places in the city.
Getting back to Lijiang
The public bus back to Lijiang leaves Liming in the morning at 8:00 AM. The bus meets on the main street (redstone street), in front of the school basketball courts. Another option is take one of the small buses that leave Liming throughout the day. These drop you off at Zhong Xin (中心) village near the Yangtze river (7 rmb per person). From this town there are small buses that leave fairly regularly to Lijiang (25 rmb person). The buses to Lijiang are usually the blue ones with the picture of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain on the door.
